FAQ
What is Loui?
Loui is a browser-based Markdown app for anyone who wants to write clearly and stay organised. Documents can be created, arranged into projects, and edited directly in the browser – no account, no installation required.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Loui runs entirely in your browser and requires no registration or personal details. Just open it and start writing.
Where is my data stored?
Documents and projects are stored exclusively in your local browser storage (localStorage). No data is sent to external servers – unless you participate in the beta programme, where data is stored encrypted on the server.
Is my data safe?
Yes. In the free plan, your data never leaves your browser. For beta testers, data is transmitted encrypted via HTTPS. Data is stored encrypted on the server and remains private.
What happens if I clear my browser cache?
Since the free plan relies on localStorage, clearing your browser storage will delete your data. Regular exports are recommended. Automatic cloud sync will be available with the upcoming Pro plan.
Which devices does Loui support?
Loui works in any modern browser – on desktop, tablet, and mobile. An Android app is coming soon. Cross-device sync will be available with the Pro plan.
When are the paid plans coming?
Pro and Team are planned for the coming weeks. No exact date has been set yet – updates will follow.
How much will Pro and Team cost?
Pricing has not been finalised yet. The goal is to keep the monthly cost in the low single-digit euro range – Loui should stay affordable. Pricing will be communicated transparently before launch.
What is the MCP integration?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol – an open standard that allows AI assistants like Claude to access Loui documents directly. Documents can be created, summarised, or rewritten straight from a chat interface. This feature is part of the Pro plan.
Can I export my documents?
Yes. Loui supports exporting individual documents as well as entire projects. Since everything is written in Markdown, content is readable in any text editor – no dependency on Loui.
Can I print documents?
Yes. Documents can be exported as a simple HTML page and printed directly using the browser's print function. This gives a clean, print-ready view – no additional software needed.
